Jill Heaton
MS, RD
Dietitian
Jill has a passion for working with adolescents, adults, and family as they work to explore a changed mindset and relationship with food. Jill received a Bachelor of Science degree in Dietetics from Oregon State University, and completed her dietetics internship in addition to earning her Master’s degree in Dietetics at Mount Mary College in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She first gained experience in the treatment of eating disorders during her dietetic internship, and after years working in other areas of dietetics, knew that working in eating disorder treatment was her dream job. Prior to working at VERY, Jill worked for 7 years as a dietitian for patients at the inpatient, residential, and partial hospitalization level of care.
She enjoys providing nutrition education to her patients, and is often heard saying that no foods are off limits, and all foods can be incorporated into everyone’s life using balance and variety. Jill has spent a vast majority of her eating disorder treatment experience in child and adolescent care, providing education to patients on nutrition science, and with parents/caregiver on Family Based Treatment (FBT) and how to best support their child in recovery. She enjoys providing nutrition education to patients of all ages, and families, to help them to know the difference between fact and eating disorder messaging. In Jill’s leisure time, she enjoys hiking, backpacking, reading (mostly historical fiction), and exploring Colorado!
